Your Privacy,
Our Priority
This policy explains how PinCreator handles your data when you connect your Pinterest account to our application.
Introduction to Our Privacy Policy
Welcome to PinCreator ("we," "our," "the app," or "the service"). This Privacy Policy describes our practices regarding the collection, use, storage, and protection of your personal information when you use our application connected to the Pinterest platform.
Important: By accessing or using PinCreator, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our service.
PinCreator operates independently and is not an official service of Pinterest, Inc. We comply with the Pinterest Developer Agreement and Pinterest Advertising Guidelines in all of our application operations.
Information We Collect
We only collect data that is directly necessary for the application to function. Here is the complete breakdown:
Data from the Pinterest API (with your permission):
- Pinterest User ID — A unique identifier for your account used to synchronize data.
- Display Name & Avatar — To display your profile within the application.
- Board List — To allow you to select a destination board when creating pins.
- Pin Read & Write Access — To create, update, and manage pins on your behalf.
- Account Read Access — To verify your identity and display basic account information.
Data we do NOT collect:
- Your Pinterest email address
- Your Pinterest analytics data
- Payment or credit card information
- Private message content (direct messages)
- Your followers or following data
We never request access beyond what is functionally required by the application. Every OAuth scope request is justified by an available feature.
How We Use Your Data
Data collected through the Pinterest API is used solely for the following purposes:
- Creating Pins — Uploading images and content to your chosen Pinterest boards through the app's features.
- Managing Boards — Displaying your board list so you can easily select a pin destination.
- User Identification — Displaying your name and avatar on the app dashboard.
- Saving Preferences — Storing account settings related to your Pinterest connection.
- Session Tokens — Storing access tokens and refresh tokens to maintain an active connection without repeated logins.
We will not use your data for: targeted advertising, selling data to third parties, cross-platform behavioral analytics, AI model training, or any purpose beyond the application functionality described above.
Pinterest API Permissions & Scopes
When you connect your Pinterest account, the application requests the following permissions via OAuth 2.0:
Minimum Scope Commitment: We only request permissions that are strictly necessary. If we add new features in the future that require additional scopes, we will request your separate consent.
How We Store & Secure Your Data
We implement the following security measures to protect your data:
- Encryption in Transit — All communication with the Pinterest API is conducted over HTTPS/TLS 1.3.
- Encryption at Rest — Access tokens and refresh tokens are encrypted using AES-256 before being stored in our database.
- Protected Database — Our database is located behind a firewall with access restricted to the application server only.
- No Sensitive Logging — We do not log tokens, passwords, or personal data in our server logs.
Retention Period: Pinterest connection data (including tokens) is stored for as long as your account remains connected. When you disconnect (revoke access), all related data is permanently deleted within a maximum of 24 hours.
Do We Share Your Data?
No. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with any third party.
The only party that receives your data is Pinterest, Inc. through their official API — and this only occurs when you actively use the application's features (e.g., creating a pin). We act as an intermediary and do not store copies of the pin content created.
Legal Exception: We will only disclose data if required by law, a court order, or a valid legal process.
Your Rights Over Personal Data
You have full control over your data. We recognize the following rights:
- Right of Access — You may request a copy of all personal data we store about you.
- Right to Erasure — You may request the permanent deletion of all your data at any time.
- Right to Restriction — You may request that we limit the processing of your data.
- Right to Withdraw Consent — You may revoke Pinterest access at any time through the app or your Pinterest settings.
- Right to Portability — You may request your data in a machine-readable format.
Quick Method: You can disconnect Pinterest directly via "Settings → Disconnect Pinterest" in the app. This will delete your tokens and request Pinterest to revoke the app's permissions.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
PinCreator uses cookies and similar technologies minimally:
- Session Cookies — To maintain your login session in the application (HTTPOnly, Secure, SameSite=Strict).
- Local Storage — To store user interface preferences (language, theme).
We do not use third-party tracking cookies, tracking pixels, device fingerprinting, or third-party analytics (such as Google Analytics) that track your behavior across sites.
Children's Privacy Protection
PinCreator is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the minimum applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child below the permitted age, we will immediately delete that data.
